How I got into science
As a kid, I loved every subject: the satisfaction of math and logic, the emotional investment of history, the comfort of a book. I was an insatiable learner, and to this day spend much of my time in contemplation and exploration. When it came time to choose a major for my undergraduate degree, the most attractive part about neuroscience for me was its vast application potentials. The paradoxical coexistence of objectivity and subjectivity intrigues me, and I appreciate the constant questioning of human nature that emerges even when studying what seem like the simplest cognitive functions. I hope that by pursuing science, I can live a life of continuously enriching detours while contributing to the increased quality of life for the global community.
Non-science biography
I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the liveliness of the entertainment industry there has followed me through all of my life's adventures. Dance and the performing arts color my happiest memories: I absolutely love to be in the theatre in a as a performer, choreographer, or production coordinator. Because my involvement in the arts was made possible through an outreach scholarship program at my elementary school, I have a strong affiliation for nonprofit work and am passionate about expanding the worldviews of young children. I am also incredibly fond of the non-human natural world - especially as it works in tandem to art and inspiration - and so feel strongly about the promotion of sustainable environmental practices.
